I drove from Paris to the chateau when my mom and I went to visit the venue! The drive takes 4 hours and 30 minutes. The majority of the drive is on a very nice toll road, I think driving in France is easier than driving in Chicago!
Currently, you can rent a car for 230 USD from Avis.

There are several train options, including a direct train, from Paris to Besancon. The direct train is currently listed for 76 USD and takes 2 hours and 34 minutes. The train schedule is typically available 2 months before your intended journey.
From the train station, you can either rent a car or book a taxi to the chateau. Ilaria at the chateau can arrange a car to pick you up for 180 euro for four people one way.
